Psy has taken over the music industry in the country and worldy media is paying attention to him as well. Psy?s ?Gangnam Style? has grabbed attention of the global fans through all kinds of SNS such as YouTube. This happened because Psy?s music and YG?s global marketing met.
YG Entertaiment representative Yang Hyun Suk always though Psy as his own brother and had a friendly relationship with him. Psy, even though he could do it well by himself, went in to YG Entertaiment and on the summer of 2012, they together created the biggest hit in ten years after ?Champion? with the song ?Gangnam Style.? What kind of synergy effect did they create together?
Yang representative told Psy only one thing when he was preparing for the new album. ?Go back to your original self, Psy(co),? By what Yang representative saw, Psy was quite normal and going back to ordinary life. Psy attempted to be proud dad to his wife and his kid, trying to make a showy music. However, Yang representative said that ?being like that is not Psy-like.?
With Yang representative?s advice, Psy added a new song. That was ?Gangnam Style.? He posted a monetary reward for all the talented choreographer and produced a piece of art work. Within that, there?s a dance that was popular in the late 80?s, ?Horse Dance.? Yang representative, who was a great dancer, said that ?I also danced horse dance alot. It?s going to bring reminiscence to people in their 30?s and 40?s.??
Psy revibed with ?Gangnam Style.? In his music video, every single line of his lyrics and every moves shows his original craziness. Psy is the best when he is himself. Yang representative?s advice did work on him.?
?I can?t really pin-point every single thing when artists like Big Bang and Psy produce music. They can do it themselves. However, if they are missing something out, I can give a little bit of advice since I have more experience. As I said early, I?m just doing one point lesson a lot at YG. (smile)?
Also, Yang representative mentioned his frustration about the fact that Psy couldn?t recieve any awards at all TV programs. He had the same view about the time when Busker Busker couldn?t have a proper treatment on the tv programs even with a hit they made in music industry. ?
?It doesn?t matter even thought Psy can not receive awards at TV singing programs. I think of YG singers ranking 1st on the major music chart for ten days straight than ranking 1st on the TV program for ten times straight.?
Right now, Psy is ranking first on Korea?s music chart for three weeks straight.
